Pupils may be subdivided into groups called "classes". Each class is a subfolder in the Pupils folder. To use this, create new folders within the Pupils folder and name them the class names. Then drag the Pupils into their appropriate class folders.
Use the Choose… menu item in the Class menu to select an active class. If no class is selected, Master Spell will default to using the Pupils folder itself. There is also an option in the Preferences (in the Edit menu) to "Choose Class at Startup and Pupil Logoff" so that when Master Spell is launched or a Pupil logs-off, the user is immediately asked to select his/her class.
The Class Editor
The Class Editor will show all of the pupils that are in the Pupils folder inside the Master Spell folder or the same pupils you see in the Pupil menu. If a Class is selected, the Class Editor will show the Pupil files in that Class. The Class Editor allows you to change the settings for these pupils.
Note: The Class Editor is limited to editing five pupils for all but site license and world-wide licensed registered users.
The Class Editor always uses the selected class and all new pupils created while a class is selected are kept within the selected class.
Select the item Edit… from the Class menu. The Class Editor will take a look at all of the pupils in the Pupils folder and show this list on the left listbox. Settings can be selectively applied to several pupils at once by clicking and dragging through the list of pupils. To select multiple non-contiguous pupils, hold down the Command key and click each pupil.
The Class Editor does not create or remove pupils. Pupils can be created from the front panel by clicking the New Pupil… button and pupils can be removed by deleting the pupil files from the Pupils folder in the Finder.
If you will be setting all of the pupil passwords, you may also turn off the requirement for pupil passwords (in the Preferences) and set them all in the Class Editor then later turn the pupil password requirement on.
If you created pupils without giving them passwords and you don't give them passwords in the Class Editor and you turn on the pupil password requirement in the Preferences, then the pupil will be asked to provide a password when he/she chooses his/her pupil file.
Tip: To allow the pupils to set their own passwords at login time, set the pupil's password to "password" in the Class Editor.
